Jamaica’s Real Estate Sector Needs A Stimulus Package?

Fri, May 15, 2009

Deborah Cumming, First vice-president of the Realtors’ Association of Jamaica, wrote a letter to the Gleaner newspaper editor. It is featured in today’s Gleaner. She writes that the recently announced reduction in stamp duty and transfer tax is commendable, but it is not a short-term stimulus. She also highlights that the Realtors are very concerned that the stimulus provided by the Government in decreasing transfer tax and stamp duty will be too late to be an effective stimulus.
