NHT contributors who live and work in St. Catherine can collect information about applying for one of the 46 two-bedroom detached units being offered in the Morris Meadows Housing Scheme. The scheme is the third phase of a growing community located just off Municipal Boulevard (the I-95) in Portmore, and about 4 km from the Mandela Highway.
Just a year ago, Venice bought a house in Morris Meadows and she is delighted she made the decision to do so. “The community is a real family community and the people are friendly and caring. The community is also looking very pretty and fresh with the new lawns and gardens which residents are busy setting up. Morris Meadows is really a peaceful and pleasant place to live.”
Each two-bedroom unit is being sold at $5.6 million. A single applicant earning a minimum of $17,400 a week will be able to access $3.5 million from the NHT to purchase the unit. This means that he will have to find alternative funding for the remaining portion to make the purchase. On the other hand, depending on their incomes, two contributors mat apply together and receive up to 95% financing from the NHT, to buy a house. Monthly payments could vary depending on the applicant’s age, income and the amount of deposit made.
Contributors are being encouraged to pick up application forms and a fact sheet about the development from any NHT office between May 4 & 15, and find out how they can qualify for an NHT scheme loan. Interested persons should also use this period to get verification letters from their current and past employers. These letters will state for what period, and how much they have contributed to the NHT.
While applicants will not be required to make a deposit until they are selected for the unit, they are required to submit proof of their ability to pay the deposit and any difference between their NHT loan and the cost of the house, when they apply.
Applicants for the 46 two-bedroom detached units at Morris Meadows, Phase 3 will be accepted between May 18 and May 22, 2009.
