Just last week, the Realtors Association of Jamaica (RAJ) launched Jamaica’s first Multiple Listing Service (MLS) – a website which lists all real estate (except For-Sale-By-Owner properties) that are available for rent, lease or sale across the island. It can be accessed at, and the service, which is already popular in many first-world countries, will reportedly re-engineer the process of doing real estate transactions in Jamaica. Persons visiting the RAJ’s website will not only be able to view property listings, but will also see the description of the properties, the prices, realtors contact information and conduct virtual tours of the properties.

According to Edwin Wint, President of the RAJ, “The MLS is more technologically driven and it drives more collaboration between realtors, because here you have competing firms that are collaborating and sharing in the business of listing and selling properties … So it brings a high level of collaboration, (and) engenders an even higher level of competition.” He added that the MLS will create a level playing field for all the professionals in the real estate industry, while maintaining a high level of ethics and professionalism.
