Why are you building studios in Portmore again? The first set of studios and other homes that WIHCON built in Greater Portmore were just about horrible- tiny boxes built with cheap material and downright unattractive. When I went to view the development back in the 1990′s it was a concrete jungle.
The design of the Bermonde is a marked improvement and comparable with similar housing developments in developed countries. What you should do is offer at least 1 and 2 bedrooms, there is enough land in the vicinity for that to be done. Consider Caribbean Estates and build something with adequate space that people can be proud of owning and please remember to provide some greenery and landscaping around this development, as depicted in the photo above.

Hi, it would be wonderful for these studios to be detachable so young persons can live in privacy. I appreciate what you will be doing but what I do not understand is why is it that homes, studios, etc are always sold at a price in which a loan offered by NHT cannot cover that cost. I am a young working adult and it troubles me to know that there are many other young persons in the country wanting to apply for a loan and even if they are accepted it still will not cover the expense of purchasing the house or studio. I honestly think that NHT should consider on this.

portmore people are middle class and full of class so we dnt want the studios that is all in one i.e the bedroom the kitchen the dinning n bathroom all crammed in one room so please do make the space for theses.we want it gated make it detachable. oh make it tht one person paying NHT can afford one with NHT funds

The proposed construction site is not feasible. I live in 4East and that site is drainage land and to try and smack houses right in the middle there…….no sah, Portmore hot enough without adding more fuel to the fire. The previous housing developments were just done for money as no landscaping or trees were planted. Wicked if you ask me…basically treating people like refugees.

I want to be constructive so I must say even though I do not like studios; I would rather a detached studio unit. Nothing semi or attached. People need privacy and space in order to be civilized. Now, developers have to bear in mind that their are single parents out there wanting to own homes as well. If properly conceptualized you can convert a studio into a two bedroom house. I would prefer a flat or if a studio was in keeping with a flat, so you have kitchen and dining and living along with bathroom, essentially and when adding on you could go upstairs for a townhouse effect and install 2-3 bedrooms. Hopefully, we will end up with yard space in the front and back of the premises. To keep costs down, WIHCON could work with the company that uses cost-effective material for the interior of the house, the panelling thing that I read about on one of these sites.

Thair are people living on part of the land paying a pepercorn rent ,they were lacated thair after the fire in kingston back in the 70s.

However, I would really appreciate a one or two bedroom house at a price that is really affordable to young adults. I am a Government employee, and I am sure you will take into consideration the salary we are getting along with the loans available for a single applicant at NHT.
Is WIHCON planning on doing other projects? I would appreciate all the information.
