All National Housing Trust (NHT) Mortgagors who have suffered damage as a result of Hurricane Sandy are entitled to submit a claim, by Friday December 7, 2012 at any NHT office.
You need to submit the following:
- A completed peril insurance claim form (available at all NHT offices)
- An estimate of the damage
- Photograph of the damage (if possible)
- Valid identification (passport, driver’s license or national ID) and TRN
- A letter of authorization (if someone other than the mortgagor is processing the claim). This letter should be witnessed by a Justice of the Peace or a Notary Public, and should be accompanied by a notarized copy of the mortgagor’s identification and TRN
Please note:
- Damaged items should be kept and shown to Loss Adjusters as part of their assessment
- Temporary repair may be undertaken in cases where failure to do so would result in further damage. Receipts should be kept for submission with the claim
- The NHT mortgagor is responsible for covering the first two percent of the sum insured
- The NHT reserves the right to pay claims in installments. This policy does not cover loss or damage to contents
