Tilston/Bounty Hall Housing Development In Trelawny

In a post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House yesterday, Daryl Vaz – Minister with responsibility for Information and Telecommunications – announced that the Government has approved the award of a contract to begin infrastructure work on the Tilston/Bounty Hall Housing Development in Trelawny. The housing development is being constructed under the Sugar Workers Housing Programme.

The 27-hectare estate will have 288 serviced lots, and a centralized sewage system. The National Housing Trust (NHT) are the developers, and infrastructure work valued at J$199 million has been awarded to DR Foote Construction Company.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NHT, the National Workers Union, the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, the University and Allied Workers Unions and the management of the sugar estates owned by the Government helped to establish this latest sugar housing development. Several other Sugar Workers Housing Programme developments are in the construction or planning stages across the island.
